My fiance was married into Catholic church on his first marriage in USA. We, however, plan to get married in a Catholic Church in the Philippines. Can we be married without annulment papers?

Deacon Bob is absolutely correct. The Catholic Church requires an annulment from a first marriage, even if the second marriage will be in another country. Talk with a priest to get the process started. It can take over a year. On the positive side, answering the annulment questions can help your fiance see what went wrong in his first marriage. This information can be of great value to you both as you plan your future. While you wait for the annulment, use this time to attend a Cana program or Engaged Encounter, as your priest guides you. These programs offer excellent advice for engaged couples on how to live out the sacrament of marriage with joy and understanding. God bless you.
