I was considering wearing a designer suit (jacket & skirt) that is black with a pearl white collar and pearl buttons. Would this not be appropriate for a small second wedding at a church? Ivory & pastels are not good colors on me.

As long as the leadership at the church does not have any restrictions on your choice of colors--there is no reason why you shouldn't wear what you feel most comfortable in. Black and White weddings are becoming very popular these days. Remember, the bridesmaids' gowns should match that of the bride in degree of formality. The fabrics should also compliment one another.
