My fiancé and I are planning on getting married at the Lancaster court house in Lancaster Pennsylvania. We are currently residents of Baltimore, MD. My fiancé asked me to sign a prenuptial agreement and I have agreed to sign. We need to know if the laws surrounding a prenup in Pennsylvania are the same as Maryland, or do we have to reconsider our plans?

All states recognize prenups but, with the exception of the 26 states which have adopted the Uniform Prenuptial Agreement Act (UPAA), of which PA and MD are not included, all states have slightly differing rules.

Consult a local attorney where you plan to reside.
