This is my second marriage, and his first, but we are both under the age of 25. He wants the big wedding with all the traditions but is it proper since I have already been married and there will only be 5 years between my weddings? I feel embarrassed inviting guests when they attended my last wedding such a short time ago but I still want my family to be there and I want them to understand that this time I am serious about "till death do us part". How can I ease this situation and what is the proper etiquette?

Dear Second Time Around,

Don't worry. This is a second chance at happiness, not just a second wedding. Plus it is a first for your fiance. You may have the wedding both of you envision with the white dress, attendants, and reception that follows.

So, you feel better about the family who attended your first wedding, perhaps you could just forego the shower. But, by all means register. Encore weddings are not considered gift giving situations, but many may still want to give you something. Your guest will want to know what you want.

This is probably something that only the two of you will be financing, so set a budget early on.

Best wishes,
