My fiance and I are planning to get married in Vegas in April 2006. We would like to invite everyone but know it is unrealistic to think that they all would be able to go. Do we even send out invitations? Or do we send out 'Save the Date' magnets or what not? If we do send invitations, what type of wording would be appropriate for this type wedding? I don't want anyone to feel left out simply because they can't afford to go but I don't want to not send them an invitation either. The whole point of the wedding being in Vegas is to weed out some people so it wont be so large. Also, how far in advace should I send out these invites?

Dear Vegas,

It is way too early in the planning process to be this anxious. Smile, it will be all right. Destination weddings are very common today, so this is a typical situation.

It is best to send out Save the Date cards to everyone you wish to attend with all of the information your guests will need, such as the date, location, and nearby hotels. Later, eight weeks before the wedding, send your invitations to everyone you sent the Save the Date cards to. Make the RSVP date tight, so you will have an accurate number attending.

Use any wording you wish. This is your affair, so word it as formal or informal as the event. These can even be handwritten.

Only send the Save the Dates to the people you really want to attend. There is no way to weed people out when it is a destination wedding.

Best wishes,
