I have been married now for 7 years. I have a 12 year old son and a 8 year old and we have a 7 year old together. We were not married in the catholic church and will be doing so July 30. I have decided to let my kids walk me down the aisle instead of my dad because i dont feel like i belong to him anymore, I dont feel like its him giving me away, he gave me away a long time ago.

Do you all think this is wrong, when i told my dad this he got all hurt and now throws it in my face all the time. My dad lives 2 miles from me but i dont feel we are very close am I wrong here. I think this is a very important job for my kids.

What do you all think

I think it is a splendid idea - and very appropriate to let your children walk with you - after all this gives a real meaning to the words family wedding. And, as you say, your dad did his bit some years ago!

Because this is a reaffirmation or wedding renewal, it is completely appropriate for your children to walk with you. It really wouldn't be appropriate for your father to walk you anyway.

I agree that what you suggest is appropriate, but i hate to see family stress at what should be a happy occasion. Being a dad I know I look forward to walking my daughter down the aisle, but I think I might not feel that way for a renewal of vows. But obviously your dad does. Is it necessary to have anyone walk you down the aisle for a renewal of vows? Maybe instead have your children walk ahead of you down the aisle, as the bridal party would do and they can stand with you and your husband as you renew your vows. Maybe your dad can do a reading or lead a prayer. It is hard not knowing everyone to come up with a plan that will work, but try thinking outside the box. Being sensative to everyone's feelings can make the day much more joyful. God Bless and best of luck.
