My husband and I decided to have a vow renewal ceremony and reception sometime next year. Our first wedding was very small (only 4 people at the wedding). We have had some problems in our marriage in the past year that we have worked through thanks to therapy. We are looking at the vow renewal as a new beginning and the chance for me to get the wedding that I didn't get the first time. We will be married 7 years next February. We are looking to have the vow renewal sometime in late next summer. My questions are can I wear a white wedding dress? I hated getting married in February because it was too cold. Is it tacky to not have the renewal in our original wedding month? We were thinking about renting a ballroom in a nice hotel for the reception and doing a catered buffet and open bar. Is this too much for a renewal? Should my father walk me down the isle (he didn't get the chance the first time) or should my husband? I want a traditional type wedding but I am not sure what is appropriate. HELP!!!!

You can wear any type of dress you feel beautiful wearing; just be sure to match the style and formality of the dress to the formality of the party and ceremony.

Since you are already married it wouldn't be appropriate for your father to "give you away", since you've already be given, right? [;)] However, your father could be deemed your escort to your husband. Speak to your officienat about the wording since he/she wouldn't be saying "Who gives this woman...".

You can choose any date you like for the renewal ceremony. Typically couples will select their wedding anniversary date but you could also choose any other significant date such as the anniversary of your first date or the day you were engaged. It doesn't have to be a significant date though; choose what works best for you.

Congratulations on 7 successful married years!
