How do we politely ask for Money as a wedding gift

You dont...politely. Although etiquette suggests it is polite for a guest to bring a gift to a wedding, it also suggests that it is impolite for the bride and groom to expect a gift. That being said, you wouldn't mention a gift unless someone asked you specifically. You could certainly let your family know your preference so that if anyone asks they can tell.
Try to focus on what is more important here, which hopefully is the exchange of your vows and love for your groom in the presence of good friends and family. The gifts are just frills. If you do receive gifts you don't want, or can't use, simply return them or give to charity.
