Who pays for Wedding Guest Accomodation

We are both marrying for the second time. We are just having a backyard civil ceremony. Most family will be coming from out of town, three to six hour drive. Is it ok to expect them to provide their own accomodations? We are trying to keep to a very small budget. With only family and very close friends, it is still going to be about 50 people. Any advise will help.

You are not responsible for guest accommodations; only lodging for your bridal party, if you have any attendants.
